Sunday Day 1

by Cammy Brantzeg

The November mission trip team arrived at Saturday night.  After a quick bite to eat the team headed to bead to attempt to shift to the South Africa time zone.

Sunday morning started with the team going to Shofar church.  Louise Conradie (co-founder Mosaic) spoke at the beginning of the service about Orphan Sunday.  The congregation split into smaller groups and prayed before the service started.

After church, our team went to eat lunch at Under Oaks.  We had a beautiful view of the mountains as we ate.

We then headed to visit Mosaic's community center for a tour and a short talk about Mosaic.

We then headed to the Mosaic community of houses so take a quick tour of a house and to meet some of the foster mothers and children.

Our evening ended at our house with a braai (cookout) with Meyer and Louise Conradie (co-founders of Mosaic), Wikus (Mosaic's COO) and Annemarie (Mosaic's fundraising coordinator).  I forgot to take a picture of the food cooking over the fire in the outdoor fireplace. :-)

South Africa: A Journey of Heart, Humility, and Hope

by Lynda Commale Africa has a way of changing you. My first trip to the continent — to Uganda years ago — opened my eyes to both unimaginable poverty and profound resilience. I witnessed death firsthand, felt the weight of loss, and the joy of giving. During that trip, I helped distribute 2,000 bed nets to prevent malaria — an experience that shaped who I am today.  When I committed to this journey to South Africa, I told myself, You’ve seen the worst of poverty. This will be easier. I was wrong — very wrong. South Africa is breathtaking. The spring sunshine, the vast skies, and the warmth of the people fill my heart with joy. But once the work began, I quickly realized that beauty and heartbreak often coexist. Day Two: From Laughter to Heartache  This morning started peacefully, with connection and joy. Last night we had learned more deeply about the mission of Ma’s of Wellington — a remarkable organization serving the preschoolers of this community with love, education...

We prepared sample crafts and prepped for Mosaic's afterschool program on Friday. I just added a bunch of pictures for you to see our progress. The Mosaic Community Center kitchen before we cleared it out to remove the flooring. Group photo before we started with the Mosaic staff.  We joined the Mosaic Monday morning devotion at 8:30 am this morning but I didn't take a photo of that.  :-) Removing the tile flooring Adding netting to prevent rugby and soccer balls from breaking the glass windows.
